General and Visceral Surgery1 01

In our clinic we perform appr. 4,000 operations per year, which include the full range of General and Visceral Surgery.

To restore your health quickly and successfully, we have a competent, coordinated team and the most modern technical facilities.
The clinic is run in a collegial manner and unites four centres under one roof

  • Centre for General and Visceral Surgery
  • Centre for Endocrine Surgery
  • Centre for Minimally Invasive Surgery
  • Obesity Surgery

Whenever possible, we perform surgery using the minimally invasive surgery technique. The advantages of a minimally invasive procedure are the following: better cosmetic results as well as reduced surgical trauma, less postoperative pain and faster recovery. Alone in the treatment of gallstone disease, our centre can draw upon an experience of about 10,000 patients operated since 1990. Furthermore we are experienced in the treatment of abdominal wall ruptures (hernias) with minimally-invasive techniques.

Based on our experience, we choose a therapy matching the needs of each individual patient. In most cases the operation may be minimally invasive and as an outpatient surgery. In the evening, the patient is largely painless, so that he can be discharged safely.

In visceral surgery, we apply a novel rehabilitation approach. Originally planned as a so-called fast-track development approach, we use a modified form, the optimal-track approach. Applying a special pain management, our patients are mobilized early and are able to eat shortly after the intervention. On the day of the operation, the patient can get up, sit in a chair, drink and have a snack if desired. In addition to a significant increase in general well-being this approach reduces post-operative complications dramatically.
