The Bowel Centre Treptow-Köpenick is a centre which has been certified by the German Cancer Society. It is a network of inpatient and outpatient operating doctors / specialists in the treatment of benign and malignant intestinal tumors.
The headquarters of the Bowel Centre are the DRK Kliniken Berlin | Köpenick with the Department of Surgery, the coordination unit of the Oncology specialist outpatient clinic, the Department of Internal Medicine - with main focus on Gastroenterology-, the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and the Institute of Pathology.
In the context of interdisciplinary, weekly tumor conferences, all experts in the different medical departments including psycho-oncology specialists, meet to discuss any intestinal tumor development of their patients, so that in joint effort, the best possible individually tailored treatment plan can be compiled.
In addition, it is the aim of the Bowel Centre, through promotion and sponsoring of clinical studies in the field of bowel cancer research as well as through scientific cooperation projects with other hospitals and laboratory facilities, to develop and administer therapy methods according to the latest research standards.
